Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Staff Reporter
Citizens can now dial the toll-free number for filing complaints about problems related to sanitation, including garbage clearance. The problems will be looked into in 24 hours. The Minister of State for Bangalore City Development, T. John, who commissioned the helpline, said it was another example of private-public partnership. Swachcha Bangalore, which was launched in March 2000 for door-to-door collection of solid wastes, now covers the entire City. While Air Tel has provided the front-end software application for the call centre, the BATF has contributed conceptual and managerial support besides finance. The BMP, the third partner, will manage the system. The call centre has been established at a cost of over Rs. 40 lakh. The BMP has provided Rs. 11 lakh and the BATF Rs. 16 lakh for the software and infrastructure.
