NLC exceeds targets

CUDDALORE APRIL 29. The Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) has exceeded its targets in various areas during 2001-2002.

An NLC press release issued here today said that against the target of 1,170 lakhs cubic metres, the overburden removal was 1,222.45 lakhs cubic metres. The lignite production was 183.69 million tonnes against the target of 175 MT.

On power generation, the release termed the achievement as "an all-time high record''. The Lignite Corporation generated 14,452.53 million units, while the target was 13,083 MU. Obviously, there was an increase in the export of power. Against the target of 10,553 MU, the export during the period was 12,153.94 MU.

The release specifically referred to the record performance by the first thermal power station and said the station had registered a plant load factor (PLF) of 79.57 per cent.

The Corporation has two power stations and the release, however, was silent about the second thermal power station's achievement.
