Secretary-level reshuffle

NEW DELHI April 29. The Government today announced a reshuffle of some Secretary-level officers in wake of the retirement of Ravindra Gupta, Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry and Department of Public Enterprises, and J.A. Chowdhury, Union Health Secretary, who are superannuating tomorrow.

While B.N. Jha, Director General (DG), National Productivity Council (NPC), is taking over from Mr. Gupta, S.K. Naik, Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, has been appointed as the new Health Secretary. Consequently, Brijesh Kumar, who is presently in the cadre, has been appointed as DG, NPC.

B.S. Baswan, Chairman, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), has been moved as Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, and P.K. Mishra, who is also currently in the cadre, has been posted as Chairman, NPPA. An official press release said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has also approved the appointment of B.N. Navalawala as Adviser, Ministry of Water Resources, on a contract basis, by creating a new post of Adviser in the Ministry for a period of one year from May 1. As Adviser, Mr. Navalawala will also hold full additional charge of the post of Secretary in the Ministry until further orders. Consequently, the earlier orders appointing A.K. Goswami as Secretary have been cancelled, the release added.
