The District and Sessions Judge, Mahendranath Patnaik, sentenced the accused, Pradeep Sahu and Dhiren Mohanty, after convicting them under Sections 376, 366, 394, 34, 323 and 506 of the IPC. Another accused in the case, Biban Biswal, is still at large. Ms. Mishra, estranged wife of an Indian Forest Service officer, was raped by the accused on January 9, 1999.
