NEW DELHI APRIL 29. The privilege motion moved against the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, for his alleged remarks challenging the ruling of the Deputy Speaker on the Gujarat issue has been disallowed by the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha, P.M. Sayeed. Responding to queries on the issue by Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, who had given notice of breach of privilege against Mr. Vajpayee, Mr. Sayeed told the House that Mr. Vajpayee had written to him denying he made such remarks. "I am satisfied with his reply and the matter stands closed,'' said Mr. Sayeed. An agitated Mr. Prasad Singh continued to demand the consideration of his notice and suggested that the matter be referred to the privilege committee for a detailed inquiry. However, Mr. Sayeed was firm. "The leader of the House has written and denied having made that statement. We should accept it. I am now closing that chapter,'' he said.
