She has been invited by the United Nations to participate in the upcoming U.N. Session on Child Welfare to be held in New York. She will participate at the session to be held between May 8 and 10, and is slated to leave for New York on May 6, according to official sources. The Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, has expressed happiness at the "great honour bestowed on Ms. Murthy who has brought laurels to Karnataka". As part of the Indian delegation, Ms. Murthy will take part in the discussions to review the progress of child welfare measures, strategies adopted by countries, and the UN's role. The other Indian representative is Uma Tuli, renowned social worker. Both were chosen by the Union HRD Ministry.
