CM calls for quick dispensation of justice

By Our Staff Correspondent

Belgaum April 29. The Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, took a dig at the legal fraternity by citing specific cases, including a personal matter, where there was a delay in justice being delivered, at the two-day 8th State-level Advocates' Conference which began here on Monday.

He was addressing delegates after inaugurating the conference organised by the Karnataka State Bar Council, and the Belgaum Bar Association.

Citing the example of a PIL questioning the policy of the Government on the "neera" issue, he said a civil judge issued a stay order on the matter more than a year ago which was still in force.

Mr. Krishna advised the delegates to to introspect, and make suggestion on ways of quickening the delivery of justice.

The former Advocate-General, R.N. Narsimhamurthy, pointed out that legislatures too added to the problems confronting the legal system.
