Indians yet to improve

NEW DELHI APRIL 29. They have been receiving a lot of criticism, but the Indian skeet marksmen have not done anything to improve their image in the shooting World Cup in Shanghai which concluded on Sunday.

The trio of Amardeep Singh Rai, Harinder Singh Bedi and Naveen Jindal finished joint 62nd, 64th and 66th with rounds of 109, 106 and 103 respectively.

Even in the World Cup in Sydney the previous week, the Indian skeet shooters had finished at the bottom. In a field of 77 shooters, Hennie Dompeling of the Netherlands took the gold with a 146, while three others at 145 fought hard for the other medals.

Shawn Dulohery of the US took the silver by winning the shoot off, while Jan-Henrik Heinrich of Germany had the satisfaction of clinching the bronze ahead of Antonis Nicolaides of Cyprus.

The results: Men's skeet: 1. Hennie Dompeling (Ned) (25, 24, 25, 25, 24; 23) 146; 2. Shawn Dulohery (US) (23, 25, 24, 24, 24; 25) 145 (8); 3. Jan-Henrik Heinrich (Ger) (24, 24, 24, 24, 25; 24) 145 (7); 62T. Amardeep Singh Rai (20,, 23, 22, 22, 22) 109; 64T. Harinder Singh Bedi (19, 23, 23, 24, 17) 106; 66T. Naveen Jindal (24, 23, 21, 16, 19) 103.
