Exhibition on Tamil software

CHENNAI, DEC. 8. An exhibition on IT books and Tamil software was declared open on Friday by Dr. V. C. Kulandaisamy, Chairman, Tamil Virtual University.

Organised by the Association of Tamil Computing, the exhibition, with 42 stalls, will be on till December 9 at the Anand Theatre complex between 10 a.m. and 7-30 p.m.

Dr. Kulandaisamy stressed the importance of development of science and technology for the progress of the country. There is also a need for an equal distribution of income for the benefits to reach all sections of the people.

Mr. Lena Tamilvanan, author and publisher, said he had undertaken ``a daunting task'' of publishing 63 computerised books in Tamil and was having difficulty in locating the right person to write these books.

Mr. Cheran, film director, and Mr. M. Anto Peter, secretary of the association, spoke.
