All postings to cultural bodies through PSC soon
By Our Staff Reporter

KOLLAM, DEC. 8. The Cultural Affairs and Devaswoms Minister, Mr. G. Karthikeyan, has said that moves have been initiated by the UDF Government to make the Public Service Commission (PSC) the appointing authority for all postings to the cultural institutions.

Inaugurating a State-level leadership camp of the Kerala Dalit Federation (KDF) at Kottiyam, near here, today, he said Dalits and those from the Backward Classes would be given adequate representation to the postings of the Travancore Devaswom Board. The State Government intended to introduce an ad hoc constitutional change for the purpose, he said.

Touching on a point raised by the KDF State president, Mr. P. Ramabhadran, during his presidential address with regard to the recent comment from the Transport Minister, Mr. Ganesh Kumar, on the need for economic reservation, Mr. Karthikeyan said the State Government did not intend any shift from its proclaimed reservation policy.

Swamy Saswatikananda delivered the keynote address and the Rajya Sabha Member, Mr. N.K. Premachandran, spoke.
