V.P. Singh visits Laloo in jail

PATNA, DEC.8. The former Prime Minister, Mr. V.P Singh, today called on the RJD president and former Bihar Chief Minister, Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav, a day ahead of the latter's return to the camp jail in Ranchi tomorrow.

Mr. Singh spent some time with Mr. Yadav at the Patna Central Jail, Beur. He described it as a personal visit. He hoped that the cases relating to Mr. Yadav would be decided at the earliest. They also discussed the political situation. Earlier, Mr. Chandra Shekhar, former Prime Minister, met Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav at the jail. He enquired about Mr. Yadav's health.

Mr. Yadav, who was brought here in connection with the disproportionate assets case, will be taken back to the camp jail in Ranchi tomorrow by a service flight for production before the designated CBI court there on Monday in connection with the conspiracy case of the fodder scam (case no RC 47A/98).

The Supreme Court will also be hearing Mr. Yadav's bail petition relating to the aforesaid case. Mr. Yadav's presence is needed at the special CBI court here on December 13 for recording his statement along with his wife and the Chief Minister, Ms. Rabri Devi, in the disproportionate case.
