Forex reserves up $260m
MUMBAI, DEC. 8. Foreign currency reserves rose further by $260 million to $46.89 billion during the week ended November 30.Foreign currency assets (FCA) were up by $335 million at $44.02 billion in the reporting week, according to Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical report here.
Gold reserves, however, declined by $75 million to $2.87 billion in the reporting week while the special drawing rights remained static at $5 million.
Loans and advances to the Centre increased by Rs.6,135 crores to Rs. 9,360 crores but those to the state governments declined by Rs. 829 crores to Rs. 5,383 crores.
Aggregate deposits of scheduled commercial banks grew by Rs. 3,837 crores (0.4 per cent) to Rs. 10,56,897 crores for the fortnight ended November 16. Bank credit was up by Rs. 2,698 crores (0.5 per cent) to Rs. 5,48,632 crores.
Food credit has declined by Rs 839 crores at Rs. 51,237 crores while the non-food credit saw a rise of a Rs. 3,536 crores at Rs. 4,97,395 crores, it added.
