CHENNAI, NOV. 6. The Particulate Matter (PM) level in Kilpauk was
703 micrograms/cubic metre (mcg/cm), higher than the permissible
level of 200 mcg/cm.
At T. Nagar, it was 582 mcg/cm and at Vallalar Nagar, 378 mcg/cm.
The Respirable Dust Particle (RDP) level was higher than the
permissible limit of 100 mcg/cm at T. Nagar - 229 mcg/cm; Kilpauk
- 196 mcg/cm and Vallalar Nagar - 126 mcg/cm. The Sulphur
Dioxide, Oxides of Nitrogen, Lead and Carbon Monoxide levels were
much within the permissible limits. The pollution levels were
recorded between October 29 and November 2 by the Tamil Nadu
Pollution Control Board under the Chennai Ambient Air Quality
Monitoring Programme.
