India, Russia sign declaration to combat terrorism
Moscow, Nov. 6. India and Russia today signed a new Moscow Declaration on ``international terrorism'' and made a joint statement exclusively on ``strategic issues'' of global importance. The statement called for the creation of ``a new cooperative security order'' as the launch-pad for the development of ``a multi-polar world''.

Koodankulam deal concluded
Moscow, Nov. 6. A deal for construction of a nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu with technical and financial assistance from Russia was signed here today on the sidelines of the Prime Minister, Mr. A.B. Vajpayee's visit.

Pak. curbs Zaeef's briefings
Islamabad, Nov. 6. The Pakistan Government is said to have directed the Taliban embassy here to ``restrict'' its activities and asked its envoy, Mullah Abdul Salaam Zaeef, not to brief the press daily.

Pak. denies copter crash
Islamabad, Nov. 6. Amid reports that a U.S. helicopter engaged in operations in Afghanistan had crashed in Baluchistan, there was a daring attempt to attack the Quetta international airport early this morning.

Govt. bid to allay fears on POTO
New Delhi, Nov. 6. In a bid to evolve its strategy to take on the Opposition in the coming winter session of Parliament during a debate on the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO) and dispel misgivings, the Government today held a briefing for the partners of the ruling NDA coalition, a few Central Ministers and select BJP MPs.

Probe into Malegaon riots
Mumbai, Nov. 6. The Maharashtra Government has decided to hold a judicial inquiry into the recent riots and arson in Malegaon and nearby villages in Nasik district.

Temple looted
Bhubaneswar, Nov. 6. About 8.5 kg of silver articles and 25 gm of gold jewellery were stolen from the Lingaraj temple here today.

Seats for kin of jawans
New Delhi, Nov. 6. The Centre is keen on earmarking a certain percentage of seats for the kin of jawans killed in action in the new medical college here which is likely to start functioning from November 15.

Another infant dies
Lucknow, Nov. 6. The Uttar Pradesh Government today ordered an inquiry into the causes of death of 11 infants, who allegedly died due to shortage of oxygen cylinders at the K.G. Medical College here, even as one more infant died at the unit taking the toll to 12.

Pak. frees 41 fishermen
Jamnagar, Nov. 6. Forty-one Indian fishermen belonging to the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, reached Okha port in Jamnagar district early today.
