'India, Russia think alike on global terrorism'
Moscow, Nov. 5. India and Russia are poised to make common cause in the ongoing fight against international terrorism but they will do so without forming an anti-terror caucus or sub-alliance that might prompt America to raise its eyebrows.

SC asks Laloo to surrender before Ranchi court
New Delhi, Nov. 5. Refusing to give a blanket bail to the Rashtriya Janata Dal president and former Bihar Chief Minister, Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav, the Supreme Court today asked him to surrender before a special court at Ranchi, in Jharkhand, on November 26 in connection with the fodder scam cases.

Cong. assails Advani over POTO
New Delhi, Nov. 5. The Congress today joined issue with the Union Home Minister, Mr. L.K. Advani, over his statement terming opponents of the controversial Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO) as those supporting terrorists.

Summit with India okayed
Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei), Nov. 5. The Association of South- East Asian Nations (ASEAN) has okayed a separate ASEAN-India summit meeting, the Malaysian Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, said today.

Anthrax vaccine
New Delhi, Nov. 5. In a major breakthrough, Indian scientists have developed a preventive vaccine against anthrax, the bacteria which is creating quite a scare across the world as a bio-terror weapon. The vaccine is expected to be commercially available in six to nine months.

Probe ordered
Lucknow, Nov. 5. An inquiry was ordered today into the death of 11 new-borns in K. G. Medical College here during the past 48 hours, allegedly due to shortage of oxygen cylinders.

U.S. warship in Chennai
Chennai, Nov. 5. A U.S. Navy warship, `USS O'Brien', which is part of the Seventh Fleet, arrived at the Chennai harbour for `fuelling' and to give ``rest and recuperation'' for its crew. The destroyer, which can carry Tomahawk-Cruise missiles, has been patrolling the Arabian Sea in support of ``Operation Enduring Freedom''.
