'A case of mistaken identity'

By Our Special Correspondent

HUBLI, SEPT. 21. It was clearly a case of mistaken identity. That was how Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge, Home Minister, described the confusion caused by the ``presence'' of Ayub Ali Khan, suspected terrorist wanted in the U.S., in Gulbarga.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, he said the suspect in the terrorist attacks in the U.S. was being detained in that country. Another person by the same name was employed in Gulbarga. ``There are two Ayub Ali Khans in Gulbarga alone,'' he added.

The CBI had sought from the State Government the passport details of Ayub Ali Khan, who is being detained in the U.S. Enquiries by the Gulbarga Police have revealed that one person by that name was issued a passport in September 1992, but he has been working in Aland and has not travelled using the passport.
