Periakulam hails new CM
By Our Staff Reporter
DINDIGUL, SEPT. 21. People and members of all parties in
Periakulam welcomed the installation of Mr. O. Paneerselvam as
Chief Minister.
Crackers were burst and sweets distributed by partymen and
people. Though many described his selection as pleasant surprise,
their expectations are also high.
Brimming with joy, Mr. M. Anbukarasn, secretary, Periakulam
Welfare Committee, said the responsibility of Mr. Paneerselvam
was high and hoped that he would fulfil the needs of Periakulam.
Many recalled the good work done by him during his tenure as
municipal chairman.
Mr. Ilamurugan, Periakulam panchayat union secretary, AIADMK said
it was a gift to the area. He would utilise this opportunity to
work for the welfare of the district, particularly Periakulam.
Dr. C. Selvaraj, doctor in Vadugapatti, said Mr. Paneerselvam was
the apt candidate and the post was offered for his selfless
service.
The people wanted the Chief Minister to give top priority to
laying of road between Periakulam and Kodaikanal to make
Periakulam a vantage tourist point. Conversion of Kumbakarai and
Vaigai dam as tourist spots may help development of Periakulam.
