No retrenchment in AI,IA: Minister
PATNA, SEPT. 21. The Union Civil Aviation Minister, Mr. Shahnawaz
Hussain, today ruled out any possibility of retrenchment in Air
India and Indian Airlines keeping in view the downslide in the
world airlines business, particularly after the terrorist attacks
in the U.S.
``We rule out retrenchment in air sectors'', Mr. Hussain said,
adding vigil had been strengthened on domestic and international
flights from India. Mr. Hussain said stricter vigil was also kept
on all the Indian airports.
Stating that Air India had also been hit by the impact of slumps
in air travels following the terrorists strikes, he said the
Ministry is taking steps to safeguard the interests of workers.
