Freesale sugar quota for October released
NEW DELHI, SEPT. 21. The Government today released 35.5 lakh
tonnes of sugar as freesale quota for the coming three months. Of
this, 12.5 lakh tonnes of sugar were meant for indigenous
freesale during October, 11.5 lakh tonnes for November and 11.25
lakh tonnes for December, an official release here said.
With 2.16 lakh tonnes of levy sugar quota released each for these
months, the total quantity of sugar available for internal
consumption would be 14.66 lakh tonnes for October, 13.66 lakh
tonnes for November and 13.41 lakh tonnes for December. The
freesale quotas are meant only for internal consumption and with
enough stocks of sugar in hand, the Government would not hesitate
in releasing additional substantial quantities in case the need
arises, the release said.
