JVP 'deal' with Chandrika
By Nirupama Subramanian
COLOMBO, SEPT. 1. The Sri Lankan President, Ms. Chandrika
Kumaratunga, has all but tied up a deal with the Janatha Vimukthi
Peramuna to help the Government stay on in power.
Though there is no official word yet, the JVP general secretary,
Mr. Tilvin Silva, told a private TV station here that the
President had agreed ``in-principle'' to the party's proposal for
outside support to the Government for one year.
