Leander & Mahesh pair loses

NEW DELHI, AUG. 1.The seventh-seeded Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi lost 3-6, 6-3, 3- 6 to Scott Humphries and Alex O'Brien of the US in the first round of doubles in the $ 2.95 million Masters series event in Montreal, Canada.

It was the first tournament for the Indian pair after Wimbledon.

Mahesh had made the quarterfinals of the same tournament last year with Mark Knowles of the Bahamas, and lost to the eventual finalists, Joshua Eagle and Andrew Florent of Australia.

The Indian pair, which is scheduled to play another Masters series event next week, figures at seventh spot in the ATP doubles race.

Mahesh is ranked No.10 in individual doubles rankings with 2540 points, while Leander is placed at No.21 with 2189 points.
