Where are the members?
NEW DELHI, AUG. 1. The Opposition today took strong exception to
thin attendance in the treasury benches in the Lok Sabha when the
House resumed discussion on the Agra summit.
Ms. Margaret Alva (Cong.) said the treasury benches were
virtually empty when the House was taking up for discussion a
major subject. She was supported by her party colleagues leading
the Speaker, Mr. G.M.C. Balayogi, to ask ``where are the
members?'' The former Prime Minister, Mr. Chandra Shekhar, was on
his legs asking the Chair to warn members of the treasury
benches.
``This is a serious matter. The whole treasury bench is empty.
The Speaker should give a warning to the Government and adjourn
the House,'' he said.
