Hizb ultras to be taken to Delhi
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, AUG. 1. The seven Hizb-ul-Mujahideen activists
arrested by the city police here on Tuesday, are wanted in a
criminal case under the Kamla Market police station limits in New
Delhi. Four other Hizb militants, who were accused in this case
and were reportedly responsible for a series of bomb blasts in
Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, had been arrested by the Delhi police on
Monday.
The arrested are being produced before the Court to obtain a
transit warrant for taking them to Delhi, the Commissioner of
Police, Mr. P. Ramulu, said in a press release here on Wednesday.
All the seven activists picked up by the Hyderabad police were
residing in a flat AC Guards, in the heart of the city. On their
interrogation, it was revealed that they belonged to Jammu and
Kashmir and owed allegiance to the Hizb-ul- Mujahideen. Some of
those apprehended are pursuing studies in the city for the last
one to six years.
The arrested persons are Naseer Ahmed Lone alias Saba (24), lab
technician, Md. Naeem Lone alias Seta (20), BCA student, Md.
Salim Lone (21), BCA student, Altaf Hussain Shah (21), BCA
student, Noorul Shahin Khan (24), MCA student, Shoukat Ahmed
Malik (26), X-ray technician and Nazir Ahmed Dar (20), student in
Pune Agricultural College.
Before coming to Hyderabad, Naseer Ahmed Lone worked with the
Hizb group and studied Imageology in the city. Altaf is a close
relative of Gulam Mohiuddin, an important Hizb leader who was
arrested by the Delhi police on Monday. Gulam motivated Altaf and
others to work for the militant outfit.
Altaf was regularly interacting with Gulam Mohiuddin and was
waiting along with his associates for his arrival to begin their
terrorist activities. Mohiuddin had told Altaf that ``after doing
some action'' in Delhi on July 25, he would come down to
Hyderabad and had also sought a shelter in the city.
Police said major sabotage operations were averted with the
arrest of these activists.
