Security tightened for Jaswant's son
JAISALMER, (Rajasthan) JULY 26. Following a kidnap threat by the
pro-Pakistan militant outfit, Jamaat-e-Islami, security has been
tightened for Mr. Bhoopender Singh, son of the External Affairs
Minister, Mr. Jaswant Singh, police said today.
Mr. Bhoopender, youngest son of Mr. Jaswant Singh, runs a hotel
here for the past four years and often visits the city.
Sources said intelligence agencies had intercepted a conversation
of the Jamaat-e-Islami activists where they had discussed a plan
to kidnap Mr. Bhoopender. The ultras were reportedly disgusted
over the outcome of the Agra summit.
The Jaisalmer district SP, Mr. Sunil Dutt, said he had received
instructions from headquarters to provide ``strict security'' for
Mr. Bhoopender Singh. Security has been beefed up at his
residence and he has been provided additional guards, Mr. Dutt
said.
