Parliament adjourned
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, JULY 26. Parliament was adjourned for the day on
Thursday after tributes were paid to the slain Samajwadi Party
member of the Lok Sabha, Phoolan Devi.
The Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr. G. M. C. Balayogi, said Phoolan Devi's
life held a mirror to the contemporary socio- political system.
She had fought for the cause of the poor, the exploited, the
downtrodden and the weaker sections of society.
In the Rajya Sabha, the Chairman, Mr. Krishan Kant,
described the killing as a brutal murder. The House was later
adjourned to enable the members to attend her funeral.
