Anjali finishes joint 19th

NEW DELHI, JUNE 9. Anjali Vedpathak finished joint 19th with a score of 576 in the 50-metre sport rifle 3-position event in the World Cup shooting championship in Munich.

It was an improved performance from Anjali who had shot 569 in the World Cup in Milan, while finishing joint 14th, last week. She had shot 566 in the Olympics in Sydney.

The strong field in which Gaby Buehlmann of Switzerland had to settle for the ninth spot, after having clinched the gold in Milan, saw Kuheli Gangulee (573) and Anuja Tere (572) finish joint 31st and joint 36th respectively.

Shooting for the minimum qualifying score for the Olympics, Meena Kumari managed 557.

The gold was bagged by Xian Wang of China who shot 97.1 in the final following a 585, for a total of 682.1. Silver was taken by Lessia Leskiv (681.9) of Ukraine while Ying Jia of China took bronze with 681.1.
