Four clerics held for church blasts

DHAKA, JUNE 9. The police have arrested four clerics, said to be the members of militant outfit, Harkat-ul-Jihad, in connection with the bomb blasts in a church on April 14. The blasts killed 10 people and injured 25 others on the eve of the Bengali new year.

Police detained the clerics here yesterday on suspicion of masterminding the attack, senior police officer, Mr. Aktaruzzman Bhuiyan, said. One of them, Moulana Mohammad Akbar, vice- principal of an Islamic school here, recently visited Afghanistan and learnt how to make bombs, Mr. Bhuiyan said.
