Saxena, Farooq condemn attack on shrine

SRINAGAR, JUNE 9. The Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Mr. G. C. Saxena, and the Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, have condemned Friday's attack on the Charar-e-Sharief shrine.

In his statement, Mr. Saxena said the incident had once again unmasked the perpetrators of violence and the culprits would soon be brought to book.

Dr. Abdullah, in a statement from London, said the proposed summit meeting between the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, and the Pakistan Chief Executive, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, had unnerved the militants and they were trying to sabotage the peace process.
