Pak. media reports baseless, says BJP
NEW DELHI, JUNE 4. The Bharatiya Janata Party today took
exception to the attempts of Pakistan media to ``implicate''
India in the killings of King Birendra and other members of the
royal family.
The senior BJP leader, Mr. J.P. Mathur, said it was ``amazing''
that a section of the Pakistani press was ``floating'' reports
accusing the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of having a hand in
the massacre. It would not be surprising that some political
leaders were using media to for anti-India tirade, he said. These
forces should not forget that India always had cordial and good
relations with Nepal, and the king symbolised the only professed
Hindu kingdom. The reaction of Pakistani press betrayed a feeling
of guilt that their own intelligence agencies may be involved in
this heinous crime, he said.
``The baseless and fanatical allegations coming on the heels of
Pakistan Chief Executive, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, accepting Indian
invitation for talks speak of ill attention to spoil any chances
of normalising relationship,'' Mr. Mathur added.
A conspiracy, says RSS
The RSS chief, Mr. K.S. Sudarshan, today said the killings of
King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya and other members of the royal
family smacked of a conspiracy to embitter the Indo-Nepal ties.
King Birendra was considered an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and
his killing had left the Nepalese populace in ``a state of
inconsolable sorrow'', he said in a statement. ``The entire
episode is shrouded in a veil of mystery in the absence of
eyewitness accounts,'' he said and averred that during the past
few years there had been an upsurge in ``anti-Hindu activities''
in the Himalayan kingdom. ``It has become imperative to unravel
the mystery behind the killings which is vital for the security
and integrity of both India and Nepal,'' he said.
