Balco switch-off
By Aarti Dhar
RAIPUR, MARCH 9. With the smelting plant of the Bharat Aluminium
Company Limited (BALCO) being switched off today, fears of new
management declaring a `lock-out' were being expressed.
The management, sources here said, had almost decided upon the
`lock-out' but held back its announcement until the next week.
Instead, an appeal was issued by the new Managing Director, Mr.
S. C. Krishnan, asking the workers to come for negotiations. Mr.
Krishnan, who reached BALCO late last night, also addressed a
press conference.
