Narayanan arrives in Port Louis

PORT LOUIS (MAURITIUS), MARCH 9. The President, Mr. K.R. Narayanan, the First Lady, Mrs. Usha Narayanan, and the Indian delegation arrived here early this evening to a warm welcome at the airport where the Mauritian Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, his wife and others received him.

Mr. Narayanan's hectic schedule begins tomorrow after a ceremonial reception at the State House. Today, he was presented a guard of honour. The Indian delegation, which includes Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, was introduced to several Mauritian dignitaries, including the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Paul Berenger, the Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam and the Speaker of the National Assembly of Mauritius.

Mr. Narayanan will be the chief guest at the 33 rd Independence Day celebrations here on March 12.
