Maran meets PM, Cong. gets busy
The President, Mr. K. R. Narayanan, today
accepted the resignations of the two PMK Ministers, Mr. N. T.
Shanmugam, Minister of State (independent charge) for Coal, and
Mr. E. Ponnuswamy, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural
Gas, from the Council of Ministers.
'LCA production requires tie-ups'
Expressing happiness over Russia's reported
desire to participate in the serial production of the Light
Combat Aircraft, the Defence Minister, Mr. George Fernandes,
today said cost-effective and economically viable production of
the LCA demanded link-ups with other countries.

Gunman shot at outside White House
Police shot and wounded a gunman outside the
White House, today. The Secret Service, after preliminary
