Project to improve medical facilities

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 6. The Dhanwanthari Centre, a welfare
society, would implement a Rs. 41.52-lakh project to improve the
facilities in the Medical College Hospital and the Thycaud Women
and Children Hospital, according to an official pressnote.
An Automatic Analyser would be set up in the Medical College
Hospital at a cost of Rs. 12 lakhs. A sum of Rs. 12.54 lakhs has
been earmarked for the purchase of two ambulances for the
hospital, Rs. 9 lakhs for an Ultra Sound Scanner and Rs. 2.65
lakhs for starting a portable X-ray unit.
In the Thycaud Hospital, a sum of Rs. 2.85 lakhs has been
earmarked for a portable X-ray unit, Rs. 1.8 lakhs for a coffee-
tea machine and Rs. 68,000 for starting an STD booth.
The District Collector, Mr. S. Sreenivasan, chaired the executive
committee meeting of the Dhanwanthari Centre, which was started
to create job opportunities for those belonging to the SC/ST
communities.
The Collector said the centre would be extended to all hospitals
in a phased manner. The District Medical Officer, Dr. K.
Thankappan, also attended the meeting.
