KPCC(I) pays compensation to victim's kin

BANGALORE, JAN. 6. In a rare gesture, the Karnataka Pradesh
Congress(I) Committee (KPCC-I) today paid compensation of Rs. 1
lakh to the family of Shivakumar, who was killed during the
violence following the abduction of the thespian, Mr. Rajkumar,
by Veerappan.
KPCC(I) representatives and a minister went to the house of
Shivakumar in Kempapura Agrahara and handed over a cheque for Rs.
1 lakh to Ms. Ratnamma, the victim's wife.
Those present on the occasion were the KPCC(I) general
secretaries, Mr. B.A. Hasanabba, Mr. C.R. Narayanappa, and Mr.
K.M. Nagaraja; the City District unit President, Mr. Ramalinga
Reddy; the Minister of State for Tourism, Mr. Roshan Baig; the
party's Chief Whip in the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Salim Ahmed;
and the President of the Rajkumar Fans' Association, Mr. S.R.
Govindu.
The minister promised that Ms. Ratnamma's request for a job would
be sympathetically considered. She told them that she had three
young children to bring up.
