 Right climate must for talks with Pak.: PM
There would have to be the right conditions for a dialogue with Pakistan, the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, said at a gathering of Indian Americans here last night.

6 killed in Gujarat civic poll violence
At least six persons were killed and about 20 others injured in firing, by the police and by one member of a mob, and stabbing in the Dariapur locality in the heart of Ahmedabad during the elections to the municipal corporation here today.

Sri Lankan Army captures Chavakachcheri
Sri Lankan forces claimed to have recaptured Chavakachcheri today from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam following yet another offensive in the Jaffna peninsula in which at least four soldiers including an officer were killed and over 40 injured.

'Vajpayee's visit a success'
Describing the visit of the Prime Minister, Mr. A.B. Vajpayee, to the U.S. as a great success, the BJP today accused the Congress(I) of lowering the prestige of the country by belittling the results of the visit.
