Campaign ends for first phase of polls
Electioneering for the February 12 Assembly
election in Bihar and Manipur, which was by and large peaceful,
ended this evening. Twenty eight Assembly constituencies in
Manipur and 108 in south Bihar, mostly in extremist-dominated
areas, would be covered in the first phase of elections.

Hijack drama ends
The four-day-old hijacking of the Afghan Airlines
aircraft ended on Thursday morning as the hijackers released the
last of their hostages and surrendered to the British police. A
group of 65 hostages and the hijackers came down the steps of the
aircraft shortly before 6 a.m.
Voters' ID must in Haryana: EC
In a bid to check bogus voting, the Election
Commission today made it compulsory for the voters in Haryana to
produce their electoral identity cards or other documentary
evidence before voting in the election to the State Assembly on

has demanded an unequivocal answer from the Prime Minister and

India, U.S. continue talks
India and the U.S. continued their talks for

3 killed in train blast
At least three persons were killed and three
