Former world no. 1 Maria Sharapova will take on Dominika Cilbulkova in the centre court for a place in the semifinals.

Up next on centre court will be Maria Sharapova and Dominika Cibulkova in the battle of the Ovas. And Ashwin Achal will bring live updates for that game. And you can follow that >here .

After a cagy opening from both players, Lisicki raced along to take the first set. Bartoli came back strongly to restore parity by winning the second but the younger, fitter Lisicki, who did make Bartoli run to all parts with her cute drop shots, came out trumps in the decisive third set.

20:14 And Lisicki has finally done it. A forehand down the line return from Bartoli can only find the net which hands Lisicki the third set 6-1.

20:10 Lisicki is finally on her bike and could be at the home stretch. Lisicki breaks Bartoli again tfor a 5-1 lead.

20:05 No hanging about from Lisicki what so ever. She holds her serve at breakneck speed to lead 4-1.

Total no. of winners - Lisicki 49. Bartoli 11. A staggering statistic.

20:02 A marathon fourth game ends in favour of Bartoli when Lisicki just about puts her backhand down the line past the inside tramline. 3-1.

19:50 And what better to consolidate a break than by holding your nerxt serve to love? Exactly what Lisicki does to race to a 3-0 advantage in the third.

19:48 Bartoli has been so in and out of this game tonight. And she gift-wraps her service game in the direction of Lisicki, who takes it. 2-0.

I'm afraid the news is that it is still raining all over SW19.

19:45 Dreary me. All of a sudden her drop shots aren't gorgeous. After leading 40-0 in the first game of the third set, a regulation drop shot finds the net. Deuce. Some turn around this. But the German is made of stronger stuff. Holds the serve 1-0 but she did make a meal of it.

"Do unto others what others do unto you", is a very old maxim and it has been used quite perfectly by Bartoli. A perfect back hand drop which Lisicki manages to reach but the ball doesn;t have enough legs to creep over the net. One set all.

An error from the Lisicki backhand hands Bartoli two set-points.

Awesome point. One of the best rallies, which saw both of the players cover a lot of ground, ends when Lisicki plays a relatively difficult backhand pass to the right of Bartoli. But the Frenchwoman is still in the ascendancy at 5-3.

Lisicki, who has been the better server of the two, has had a stinker of a 10 minutes in that department in the last 10 minutes. 4-2 Bartoli.

3-1 Bartoli, who has the momentum as well as the mini-break.

That serve of hers again gets her out of a tough spot. An error from the Bartoli forehand hands Lisicki two game points and she accepts it with glee. Tiebreak.

19:25 Impressive stuff from the Frenchwoman but has the momentum shifted considerably. She holds her serve for a 6-5 lead rather easily. The pressure now will firmly be on the German.

19:23 Cripes. Bartoli saves two more match-points, one of which was a heart-pounding rally, before coming back to break Lisicki for 5-5. The German served an untimely double fault which restored parity.

Bartoli saves one match-point to enforce a deuce.

It was billed as the battle between the big servers. Lisicki has kept her side of the bargain with 7 aces, compared to only one from Bartoli.

19:14 Bartoli has shown a lot of desire but Lisicki's better tennis is firmly in the drivers' seat. After a monster of a shot from the half-court to the right of Bartoli, she breaks the Frenchwoman to now have the opportunity of serving for a place in the semifinal.

19:10 That was quick. Lisicki holds to love for 4-4 in the second set. Her serving, apart from her brilliantly timed drop shots, has come to the party so far.

Lisicki has been like the precision surgeon finding the holes and playing the deft drops. Bartoli has been like the raw prize-fighter who is willing herself against the odds.

19:07 Bartoli is still not done here. While Lisicki has played the better tennis, Bartoli is willing to fight every inch of the way. 4-3.

19:03 Bartoli had a real look into the Lisicki serve but the German's better shot selection just about saved the day. 3-3

Some of Lisicki's drop shots from deep in her own court has been gorgeous. She has made Bartoli run a mile using that tactic of hers.

18:55 That break in serve was just about the wake-up call which Lisicki needed. All over the Bartoli serve like violent bees, she breaks back immediately. 3-2 to Bartoli.

18:52 This is interesting. Bartoli converts a break point to take the early break in the second set. 3-1 in favour of the Frenchwoman.

18:50 Wow. Lisicki makes Bartoli run a furlong to take a drop before lobbing her with an impudent shot which just about landed inside the paint. Top class tennis from the German. Lisicki has shown more variety than the Frenchwoman thus far. But Bartoli is a fighter and takes the game to a deuce.

18:46 The first three games in the first set were breaks. The first three games of the second set have been easy holds. 2-1 to Bartoli.

18:44 A strange little game which finishes in the German's favour. But one wonders why Bartoli did not attack any of Lisicki's second serves. 1-1.

18:41 That will do Bartoli a world of good. A relatively easy hold for a 1-0 advantage. She did not get much of those in the first set.

Bartoli will open proceedings in the second set.

Play has still not started in court No. 1. If anything, the rain has got heavier.

18:35 Apart from that one blemish early doors, Lisicki's serving has been the difference. And she uses it to good advantage again to win the first set 6-4.

18:31 Bartoli just about emerges unscathed. Lisicki had two set-points but couldn't find the right ingredients to convert them.

18:25 At 30-30, Bartoli had an opening but just about puts her volley from near the net outside the paint. Lisicki closes out the game by playing a very cute, cheeky even, cross-court drop which Bartoli cannot reach. The Frenchwoman will serve to stay in the set.

18:21 Bartoli might have been starring down the barrel if her challenge at 15-30 had not been upheld; it was, by the tiniest of margins. Bartoli makes little fuss about the next couple of points to win the seventh game. 4-3.

18:17 There is something about Lisicki. Hitting and dropping with panache, she takes a 4-2 lead.

18:12 The German had Bartoli in a soup at 15-30 but the Frenchwoman eventually closes the game after an error from the Lisicki backhand. 3-2

18:07 More like it from the Lisicki serve. After using a challenge in her favour for a double fault at 15-15, she races to finish the next two points for a 3-1 lead.

Is it only me or does anyone else think that Lisicki looks a bit like Manchester United's Mexican star, Javier Hernandez?

18:03 - This has been a good old ding dong so far. Lisicki, with another break point opportunity, screams the Bartoli second serve with a peach of a forehand cross-court return. It went so quickly that Bartoli decided to walk to the chair immediately. 2-1 to Lisicki.

18:00 A rather lose game from Lisicki as Bartoli breaks back immediately to restore parity at one apiece.

17:55 - And Lisicki has got the break of serve immediately. Two punishing forehands, followed by a double fault, hands Lisicki the first game.

Bartoli to serve from the far side on your television screens.

Lisicki leads the head to head 2-1 but Bartoli got the better of Lisicki in the grass of Wimbledon 3 years back.

Lisicki of couse conquered Li Na, the French Open champion, in the second round.

On court going through their pre-match routine of hitting a lot of aimless balls into the opposite side of the court.

The players are out on court. The first of the ladies singles quarterfinal - between Marion Bartoli and Sabine Lisicki.

More on that Nadal injury scare from AP - or from Nadal's Facebook page if that's your thing.

Top seed Rafael Nadal was heading back to the practise court on Tuesday after getting the all-clear after a scan on the left heel injury he suffered during a fourth-round win at Wimbledon.

The world number one posted the news on his Facebook page, meaning he will be ready to go for Wednesday’s quarter-final against American Mardy Fish.

“Yesterday after the match I went to take an MRI at a London hospital,” he said on his page. “During the match I thought I had something serious but as the match went through the pain got better.

“Thankfully the tests don’t show an injury. Today I will practice at 4:30 pm and I’ll play tomorrow. Thanks all for the support.” Nadal had the injury scare late in the first set of his match against Argentine Juan Martin del Potro on Monday. He underwent treatment on court before playing on for a four-set victory, but said later he was not sure of what nature the injury was.

The centre court roof has finally been shut. Play will start in sometime. But court No. 1, where Kvitova and Pironkova will be first up, does not have such luxuries as an overhead roof and will remain unplayable until the rain abates.

Oh, and want to get involved? liveresponse@thehindu.co.in

Apparently, the centre court roof is still open. Obviously I was a little over enthusiastic willing myself for play to begin. As the roof takes quite some time to close, start of play might be delayed by a few minutes.

17:20 - Can indeed confirm that it's chucking it down on SW19 at the moment.

In other news, Rafael Nadal, who did his ankle during the game against Juan Martin del Potro on Monday, has been cleared of any injury after an MRI scan showed that he did not do any extensive damage.

17:15 - There are strong rains coming into the All England club but that should just be a footnote because the centre court is already covered under the roof.

>This is the order of play for the day .

There were shocks and then there were shocks. It’s been a bit of a trend these days that the women’s No. 1 don’t win the Grand Slam. Current world no.1 Caroline Wozniacki continued that trend by being knocked out. Many of us would have been familiar with the Williams sisters playing against each other in the women's summit clash at the All England Championships. But guess what? Both of them have been knocked out even before the quarterfinals stage. This is the first since 2006 that, that has happened.
