French Open champion Francesca Schiavone shot to a career-high number six in the latest women’s tennis rankings issued on Monday by the WTA, with the Williams sisters Serena and Venus still leading the way.
Serena Williams has 8,475 points to top the bill from Venus (6,506), and both are also tied for first place in the doubles rankings after winning that event at the Paris Grand Slam last week.
Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki remains third on 5,970 points.
Schiavone, the first Italian woman to win a Grand Slam, shot from 17th to sixth with 4,990 points. Compatriot Flavia Pennetta also made the top 10, up five to 10th with 3,450 points.
