Wawrinka moves up in rankings

Australian Open winner Stanislas Wawrinka moves up five places to third in the men’s ATP tennis rankings released Monday.

The Swiss player is behind number one Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic after beating Nadal 6—3, 6—2, 3—6, 6—3 in Sunday’s final in Melbourne.

Nadal has advanced to 14,330 points, increasing the gap on Djokovic, who drops to 10,620.

Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro moves up to fourth, while Spain’s David Ferrer drops two places to fifth.

Britain’s Andy Murray and Roger Federer of Switzerland both drop two places, to sixth and eighth respectively.
