Stosur wins Japan Open

Samantha Stosur of Australia seized the Japan Open title on Sunday after beating Italian Francesca Schiavone 7-5, 6-1.

Stosur bagged her first WTA title after easing past her fourth-seeded opponent in just 68 minutes.

Stosur, 25, has previously won four ITF titles, three of them in Japan.

Stosur, the 2008 Wimbledon mixed doubles champion, dumped defending champion Caroline Wozniacki and eliminated 2002 champion Jill Craybas of the United States on her way to the final.
