Sri Vaishnavi bows out

The third-seeded Sri Vaishnavi Peddi Reddy lost 3-6, 2-6 to Anastasia Prokopenko of Ukraine in the girls’ first round, as the Indian challenge got off to an indifferent start in the ITF grade ‘II’ junior tennis tournament here on Monday.

In the boys’ section, fifth seed Sahl Deshmukh was sent packing by Xander Veys of Belgium without a token of a fight. Deshmukh managed to win just three games.
