Somdev-Purav, Harsh-Huey move to semis of US Challenger

Somdev Devvarman and Purav Raja stunned third seeds Kaden Hensel and Adam Hubble in straight sets to breeze into the doubles semifinals of the USD 50,000 ATP Challenger event in Knoxville, United States.

The unseeded Indian pair scored an easy 6-3 6-1 win over the Australian duo in the quarterfinal of the hard court event.

Also making the last-four stage were second seeds Harsh Mankad and Filipino Treat Conard Huey, who rallied to beat Grigor Dimitrov and Fillip Prpic 6-7(5) 6-1 10-4 in their quarter-final match.

India’s challenge in the singles event had ended with the defeats of Somdev and Prakash Amritraj.
