Snehadevi loses

Former Asian junior champion Snehadevi Reddy missed two matchpoints and lost to Mariam Bolkvadze of Georgia in the pre-quarterfinals of the $10,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The 18-year-old Snehadevi had earlier beaten the sixth seed Ekaterina Yashina of Russia in straight sets.

The results: Singles (pre-quarterfinals): Mariam Bolkvadze (Geo) bt Snehadevi Reddy 3-6, 7-6(9), 6-1; First round: Snehadevi bt Ekaterina Yashina (Rus) 6-1, 7-6(9).

Doubles (quarterfinals): Aminat Kushkova & Margarita Lazareva (Rus) bt Laura Deigman (GBr) & Snehadevi Reddy 6-4, 6-4; Pre-quarterfinals: Laura Deigman & Snehadevi bt Mariam Bolkvadze (Geo) & Danielle Konotoptseva (GBr) 6-1, 6-4.
