Fourth seed Snehadevi Reddy sailed into the second round with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over local girl Shannon Wong Hon Chan in the $10,000 ITF women’s tournament in Grand Baie La Croisette, Mauritius.

Prerna Bhambri, seeded eighth, was beaten 7-5, 7-6(8) by Jaeda Daniel, a 15-year-old American qualifier in another first round match.

Prerna saved six matchpoints from 3-5 in the second set, but missed three set-points as she fell in straight sets, in a long drawn match that saw two breaks for rain.

Fourth-seeded Ramkumar Ramanathan and Patrick Grigoriu were beaten 6-3, 6-7(3), 10-6 by Axel Michon and Benoit Paire in the pre-quarterfinals of the €42,500 Challenger tournament in Milan, Italy.

Ramkumar has been seeded seventh in the singles, and is drawn to play Rogerio Dutra Silva of Brazil in the first round.

In the $15,000 ITF Futures event in Bangkok, Thailand, Karunuday Singh made the doubles quarterfinals with Shuichi Sekiguchi of Japan beating local lads Chaleechan Tanasugarn and Warot Udomsuk 6-4, 6-4.

Fifth seed Karman Kaur Thandi fought her way past Georgia Andrea Cracium of Romania 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 in the girls’ first round of the ITF grade-2 tournament in Bochum, Germany.

ITF grade-2 juniors, Bochum: First round: Karman Kaur Thandi bt Georgia Andrea Craciun (Rou) 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
