Serena stays ahead of Azarenka in WTA rankings

Serena Williams of the United States continued to top the women’s tennis rankings ahead of Victoria Azarenka in the list released on Monday by the WTA.

Russia’s Maria Sharapova stays third, while Sara Errani of Italy moves up a place to fifth and Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark gains two places to 10th.

WTA top 10 as of August 19 (previous ranking in parenthesis): 1. (1) Serena Williams, United States, 12,260 points 2. (2) Victoria Azarenka, Belarus, 9,505 3. (3) Maria Sharapova, Russia, 8,766 4. (4) Agnieszka Radwanska, Poland, 6,335 5. (6) Sara Errani, Italy, 5,125 6. (5) Li Na, China, 4,825 7. (7) Marion Bartoli, France, 4,365 8. (10) Caroline Wozniacki, Denmark, 3,490 9.
