Sania Mirza confirmed that she will pair with the world number one doubles tennis player Bob Bryan for the coming Australian Open. “Bob is the greatest doubles player of all time and we have discussed it,” she said, talking to press persons here on Thursday when she arrived to inaugurate the second President’s Trophy Boat Race.

Sania said that she has still not decided on entering the singles of the Australian Open and neither does she expect a wild card.

But for the doubles, she will have American Bethanie Mattek Sands as her partner. She said it had been an excellent year for her as she had played in six finals.

She is hopeful that the coming year too would be great for her as she has already recovered from the three surgeries she had undergone.

Sania said she will be playing tennis as long as she continues to enjoy it. “I like to fight and will stop only when I stop having the motivation to play,” said Sania.

One of her main goals is to promote tennis to address the question “who after me?”

It is for this purpose that she intends opening the tennis academy at Hyderabad through which she intends to create players who will reach international levels. Lack of proper infrastructure is one of the aspects which is hampering the promotion of tennis.
