Jaidip Mukerjee and Sania Mirza share a few laughs at the Inauguration of the Pailan World School Residential Tennis Academy on Tuesday.

Sania Mirza hopes that she will be able to start her preparations once she gets through the six-week isolation from tennis forced by the recurrence of an injury to her right hand wrist.

“The extent of the injury will be assessed after six weeks and I am hopeful of getting back to my preparations for the Commonwealth Games soon,” Sania, who had her injured hand wrapped in a bandage, said on Tuesday

The Indian tennis ace, who had expressed worries over the recurrence of the injury at a time when she was planning to get her career back on track, looked more upbeat over her prospects of recovering.

Sania was speaking during the inauguration of the Pailan World School Residential Tennis Academy, headed by the former Davis Cup captain Jaidip Mukerjea.

“We need such academies which can give future players the confidence and the ability to believe that one need not be a cricketer to excel,” Sania said as she inaugurated the facility that hosts four synthetic courts and has provision for six more courts.

Reflecting on India's qualification to the Asia/Oceania Zone Group-I in the Fed Cup, where she played a prominent role, Saina said the way the team played was “something to be proud of.”

The Indian team is in good nick and she said she would be eager to get on to a “special” training programme for the Commonwealth Games the moment she recovers. “The Games are in October so there is enough time for me to get back to the court,” she said.
