Second-seeded Sanam Singh breezed past Nuttanon Kadchapanan of Thailand 6-1, 6-0 in the men’s pre-quarterfinals of the Asian tennis championship in Bangkok on Thursday.

The 25-year-old Sanam had, earlier in the day, given a walkover to Luke Saville in the quarterfinals of the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at the Rama Garden Sports Complex.

The fourth seed, Vishnu Vardhan also reached the quarterfinals beating Pongsiri Nirot of Thailand 7-6(4), 6-4.

The third Indian in the fray, Garvit Batra, was beaten 6-1, 6-4 by Sunu Wahyu Trijati of Indonesia.

In the women’s pre-quarterfinals, Sharmada Balu lost 6-1, 6-3 to seventh-seeded Ling Zhang of Hong Kong.

The second round exit in singles was worth $780.
