Fifth-seeded Sanam Singh lost 7-5, 6-2 to Australia’s Chris Guccione in the first round of the $15,000 ITF Futures tennis tournament in Mildura, Australia, on Tuesday. The 27-year-old Guccione, now ranked 598, was been ranked as high as 67 in 2008.
Divij Sharan lost 7-5, 6-4 to James Lemke of Australia, also in the first round.
Sanam and Divij lost in the first round in the doubles too; they went down 6-2, 7-6(3) to Aussie wildcards Daniel Byrnes and Daniel Ferretti.
