Top-seeded Saketh Myneni made a brilliant comeback to defeat the second seed and his doubles partner Sanam Singh 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the singles final of the $10,000 Sify ITF Futures-2 tennis tournament here on Saturday.

Saketh pocketed 27 ATP points and $1,440 while Sanam Singh garnered 15 points and $848.

Saketh, who looked out of sorts early on, came back strongly with his incisive first serves and well-timed aces to put it past his opponent. Sanam, who began with a bang, lost steam, committing six double faults, as the contest progressed.

Saketh looked uncertain throughout the first set. His smashes often went long. His unforced errors at crucial junctures saw him losing the first set 6-4.

However, Saketh bounced back in the second set despite losing the first two service games.

He put the brakes on a surging Sanam Singh and wore him down with his deep ground strokes and crisp play at the net. He sent down as many as 10 aces when the chips were down.

It was Saketh all the way in the final set as he broke Sanam twice early on to take a commanding 4-1 lead.

Down 0-40 in the second game, Saketh produced a hat-trick of aces to hold serve much to the delight of the packed crowd.

He won six games in a row and 12 points at a stretch to trounce Sanam, the winner of the 2012 edition, at the same venue.

The result: (final): Saketh Myneni bt Sanam Singh 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
